Filming on Tuesday was incredibly frustrating for me. I'm grateful that my friends came through to help me at the last minute, but they just joke around so much. Half of their lines were unusable because of their joke like tones or giggles in the back ground. When they were serious they did sound sort of robotic. I'm afraid that it'll look worse than expected, but I have to keep my chin up.
Editing could be much worse though. We did manage to get everything regardless of a mistake here or there, which is expected. The amount of footage we got on that last night determined how the entirety of piece would turn out though and it didn't live up or even leave room for all the cool shots we managed to get when we weren't in a rush.
Time flying by isn't always bad, but I really hoped we could've done better this time around.

This was bound to be a long week. We were pressed to film within the small time frame of one afternoon. The stress built up and pressure was high. It then all came to near explosion, but as always we rolled with the punches.
Adri and I planned out our Tuesday pretty precisely. We worked extremely hard before hand to make sure it would all play out well, but at the last minute we had a major set back. We had arranged to finish filming at a friend's house who also offered to act, but he canceled. There was no other day we could film for a variety of reasons so we immediately scrambled.
We became creative and begged another friend to help as my parents reluctantly agreed to vacate my usually noisy house. With this we rearranged all of my living room furniture and expedited the filming process. We had to cut a lot, but ultimately editing should make everything work. We go it done and that's what matters.

After a lengthy day off of regular school, more was accomplished than expected. The filming locations were my biggest stress when it came to production as the other aspects I am in charge of were mostly straight forward. There seems to be a solution that can be planned though! I have a friend who willing offered up his home in order to assist us in filming. This alleviates a little bit of stress although Adri and I still need to scout for an office location.
The editing is also now in the starting processes as we have filmed a few of the flashbacks. His work was filmed at Markham park and I am pretty happy with how those shots have turned out thus far so it's a good beginning to a piece we both have put a lot of thought into.
Productions need to be somewhat planned before starting, but winging it always brings some unexpected energy into the scenario. As much fun as that may be though, I don't want to wing this. I want actually talk things out before hand with my project partner and figure out what I want to do. I have trouble visualizing things and that bothers me extensively so I attempt to talk everything out as much as I possibly can.
The production has become increasingly difficult as the locations we once thought we could use have become unavailable. This puts major roadblocks into our already limited film schedule. Originally the scenes which included flashbacks to his morning routine were to be filmed at my house, but unexpectedly my house was taken over by my parents. The quest to find a new filming location for that scene was paired with the need for a new filming location for even our main setting, the psychologist's office.
I wanted to keep everything planned and not need to come up with anything on the spot, but we may need to get creative to get said things done.

There are many different kinds of depression. I have realized that although I've done an overall search on it that I still mainly draw from personal experience. Although it is good to pull from these memories and emotions, it does not give an open enough view. My research needs to be more specific so the general symptoms the main character has are more universal.

Major Depression

Also referred to commonly as clinical depression, and less commonly as major depressive disorder, major depression is depression that has someone having mostly bad days for a few weeks. Many kinds of depression share the symptoms of major depression, but display either additional symptoms or different measures of time.
Symptoms can include:

  • Loss of interest (general)
  • Loss of pleasure
  • Concentration issues
  • Feelings of worthlessness
  • Restlessness, mental sluggishness
  • weight fluctuation
  • Suicidal thoughts
These symptoms are general and can be seen differently with every individual case. In this case of the main character, I want him to exhibit many of these in all the aspects of his life shown to give the audience a view on how they affect different facets of daily life. This is important in that I want my audience to understand that depression can affect anything in anyone's life and that it affects every aspect differently.
